There's nothing to sign in to. bail.out uses the iCloud account already on your iPhone: tap "Get Started" on the opening screen. No password, no separate account. Just make sure you're signed into iCloud in iOS Settings → [Your Name].
Share the plan's invite link (tap "Invite your group" on the plan). It starts with https://saccojoseph.github.io/e/. If a friend doesn't have bail.out yet, the link takes them to the App Store; once it's installed, tapping the link again opens the plan. If you added their phone number and they saved the same number in their Profile, the plan also shows up for them automatically.
Votes are stored as separate records in our database (Apple CloudKit), and the app only ever reads the count — never individual votes. The event creator has the same view as everyone else. There is no admin mode and no way to see who voted what. See our Privacy Policy for the details.
Pull down on the event screen to refresh, or close and reopen the app. Votes sync over CloudKit, which usually takes 1–3 seconds. If a vote ever fails to sync, the app stores it locally and retries automatically.
Yes. You can change whether you can make it until the plan starts or is cancelled. Nobody ever sees individual answers, before or after a change.
Yes. Location votes can be changed anytime before the vote closes. Open the plan, tap "Vote on Location," and tap "Change Your Vote." Unlike bail votes, location votes are not anonymous — everyone can see who voted for which spot.
When creating a plan, the creator can add 2 or more venue options and let guests vote on where to go. Location voting is separate from bail voting — you can vote on the spot without committing to attending, and you can bail without ever voting on location. Once everyone votes, the winning venue locks in automatically.
Ready to leave a party? Tap "Emergency bail.out" at the top of your plans, pick a few friends, and press and hold to send. They get an alert and can answer right from their lock screen: "I'm in, let's go" or "I'm staying." The moment someone's in, you'll know. No location is shared, and requests expire after 30 minutes. It's for getting out of a party, not for real emergencies: if you're in danger, call 911.
Alerts reach friends by phone number, so your friend needs bail.out with their own number saved (Profile → "Add your phone number"), and notifications turned on. The number you picked has to be the same one they saved. For friends without the app, tap "Text them too" to send the same ask by iMessage.
On the home screen, long-press the plan card and tap "Delete Plan." Only the creator can delete a plan. Deleting removes it from everyone's home screen.
Yes! When creating a plan, turn off the anonymous "can you make it?" vote on the last step. The plan works as a simple group event with no voting and no auto-cancel.
Go to Profile and tap "Delete Account." This permanently deletes the plans you created, your answers and place votes, your emergency bail.outs and answers, your name, and everything bail.out stored on your device. Your phone number can still appear in guest lists of plans other people created; to remove it, email bail.out.app.official@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my account" and we'll remove those records within 7 days.
Go to the Profile tab and tap "Report a bug" or "Request a feature." It opens your email with the right subject pre-filled. We read every message.
